Bebe Miller's In a Rhythm (2017-18)

After a 15 year hiatus from Bebe Miller Company, I was invited to participate in the Making Room, a project in collaboration with Susan Rethorst the exploring process and the ongoing-ness of making. Out of this endeavor was born the evening length work In a Rhythm, with performances at Jacob’s Pillow, Wexner Center, On the Boards in Seattle, New York Live Arts and Columbia College Dance Center in Chicago during the 2017-2018 season. In 2018 we set out for a tour of teaching and performing in Columbia and Peru as cultural ambassadors for DanceMotion USA, a project sponsored by the US Department of State.

Bebe Miller's creative process is one of the first major arenas for creative dancemaking that I refer to in my artistic work as "eventing." For me this work requires the conjuring of states of moving tempered by rigorous choreographic imperatives.
